  1. This blog of your travels is AMAZING. I went by myself (a friend of a friend was with me, but no professional help — if I had known about Lukasz as I do now, I would have surely hired him) in 2002 to Grylewo and Kopaszyn, as this is where my family is from as well. I was just 34 at the time and really had no idea what I was doing or where I was going. I just wanted to see this place my great great grandfather was born and immigrated from. I note you have a surname that may connect to my line, but I have a variation on the spelling. Szymanska. Do you know this person/line… Peter Dahlke was born June 21 1846 in Koninek. He was baptized June 22 1846. His father is Joannes Dalke and his mother is Agnes Szymanska. Godparents are Michael Szymanski and Justina Szymankska. Just wondering if you may connect to this line. A fellow researcher, a direct descendant of this line. Thank you for sharing your journey and pictures.

  2. Hi Marcee, Great comment! Hmmm, I do not have Dahlke or any other Szymanskis on my tree. BUT the tree does not go back very far — at his time ;-). Will refer back here (and hope you do as well) and keep us informed of any more branches :-). Has anyone on your side been tested via DNA? Have you uploaded the results to Gedmatch.com? Please do and let us know. If you are looking for a company, I recommend FamilyTreeDNA and/or 23andME. Happy hunting…

  3. Hi Carolyn. Yes my mom, who’s grandparents (3 of 4) were all born in around Lekno has. She is on family tree DNA and exported to Gedmatch. I’m adding my email in the comment so you can reach me, and I will send you the kit number.
