Catharina BISCUP DYCH ~ GreatGreat Grandmother

Catharina was born 10 April 1846 in Łęgowo, Wagrowiec, area of then, West Prussia to Szymon Biscup and Zophia Zamorska.

We don’t know much about her early life, but we know that she married Jan Dych from a neighboring village of Danaborz, abt. 1867 when she was abt. 21.

She and Jan had 6 children.  Michalina, b. Sep 1872 in Danaborz, Mariana b. 28 Jun Danaborz, Konstancia, b. 14 Feb 1876, Agnes, b. 13 Feb. 1882 Detroit,  Augusta, and Stanislaw b. 1891 in Detroit.

On 26 Apr 1881 when she was 18 yrs, Catharina emigrated from Bremen Germany with her husband, Jan, Daughters Michalina (3) and Constancia, who was a baby to New York on the S.S.Weser.

 DEATH: 15 Oct 1894 Detroit. Catharina was only 48 years old.

Catherine is not listed on the 1900 us census…Michalina (28 yrs….though we think that probably this was Another daughter) is living with her father…Perhaps Catherine had died by then…or is living with another daughter? There is a record of death in Michigan for Kate Dych for the date on file…but it says she was widowed…and 52, which sounds like the right age…I think that is correct and that Catherine had probably left her husband…that’s why she is listed as widowed….or else that info is simply incorrect!
