Hello cousins–this is our site!

The header photo was chosen from the travel collection of Rebecca and Carolyn when they visited Sue in Poland in 2007. It was taken from the window of a train – somewhere – in Poland. The trees have been coppiced, which is a practice that extends back at least into the Medieval times when folks would cut off the tops for firewood and the trunks would re-sprout to replenish the wood supplies. Kinda like our ancestors …… who emigrated from their homeland to this new world and succeeding generations were cut-off from the motherland. Until NOW.The family tree re-routs and re-connects. It’s been a wonderful genealogical journey finding and meeting new cousins and discovering the stories of our rich past, which in turn inform and deepen our experiences today.

We LOVEEEE photos, stories, your impressions of Poland, any cultural traditions you or your parents/grandparents upheld, documents….photos of artifacts, etc etc etc…..We don’t need originals, digital copies work very well. Be sure to let us know how you would like the byline to read of any submitted material. And if you find a great link that you think will work ….

We can also work on the family puzzles, such as the Mystery of the Ring. You can post your questions, concerns, etc. Several of us have been working a distance from each other; I thought this would be a good way to centralize our findings and communicate them to each other. If there is anything you are curious about

that you’d like covered in a post, just drop us a line at OPAH. Since most of us can only research the genealogy in bits and pieces…working around our present lives….we will be able to have a standing record an repository of documents and information.

Please do subscribe on the top left sidebar. Meeting new/old family members and researchers is a delightful highlight of this rewarding endeavor.

  1. Hello,

I am the youngest son of Walter and Adeline Lukasiak. Besides my mother and aunt Josephine I do not have many recollections of the Moraniec side of the family. I do remember Uncle Mike visiting and teaching me how to flip a dime over on my wrist which I can still do to this day. He was a nice man. I do not recall the rest of my mothers siblings as I do not believe they visited very often and passed away when I was young. I have one son Tyler who will be 19 Dec. 7. I have been married to my wife Pam for 22yrs. I will be making “Big Pancakes” (blintzes) for my son for breakfast.

  2. Brian, Dzien Dobry! We definitely need to create a file for Polish recipes. This family loves to cook…and eat. 🙂 Would love any more info on Aunt Josie, and Aunt Adeline. PHOTOS always appreciated. Pris always said that Adeline was more like a cousin to her than an aunt, because of the nearness of their age.

  3. Hello,

Just came across your site. My family was raised in Glinik Polski. I spotted my dad’s brother children in your records online. Do you know if there are older records online of Glinik Polski to view? DNA has shown I am related to a Paul Bucko and it seems that the records could help. I have been there a long time ago.

I live in Chicago. You must be in Detroit. I have done genealogy for since 1996. Would love to connect by email. Please email me with subject line indicating Glinik otherwise it may go into spam. Christine Bucko

  4. Really wonderful to hear from you, Christine. I did send you a personal email. Please let me know if you do not receive it or if you have any other questions. Wondering what company you tested dna with?
